FINDING HELP DURING TIMES OF TROUBLE AND HELPLESSNESS

BIBLE PASSAGE:
For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
(Isaiah 41:13)

MEDITATION:
Whenever life crashes in on us, we may wish that we could once again
be children and have parents who will take care of us and protect us.
Growing up was a time of parental restrictions (for our benefit),
but it was also a time of security and protection.

When we become parents ourselves, we see things from a different angle.
How do we make the transition
from being protected to becoming the protector?
How do we replace the security we enjoyed from our parents?
When things are going wrong for us, where do we find relief
and how do we learn to comfort and console our own children?

The world has advanced in many ways technologically,
but has failed miserably in promoting a relationship with our Creator.
Although we live in a confused and chaotic world that is rapidly changing,
we can turn to (and believe) the promises from God.

Like a loving parent with a frightened child, God reaches out to us,
takes hold of our hands and comforts us with these reassuring words:
"Don't be afraid. I'm here with you. I will help."
No one can comfort and console us like He can
because no one really knows us like He does.

Our confidence should increase
when we realize that He wants what is best for us.
Not only does He ‘want’ what is best for us, but He can provide it.
But in order to receive His best, we have to make some changes in our lives.
We cannot continue in the same way and expect things to improve.
We need to adjust our lives
so that we will remain connected with our Heavenly Father.

ACTION:
Are you feeling stressed out and alone?
Have you been blind-sided by some events
that have upset your peace and created turmoil, worry, etc.?
Does it seem that you are trapped with no way out?
It doesn’t have to be that way if you are a child of the King.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, you know more about me and what I am
going through than anyone else does, or ever could. You
know how to comfort, console and guide me. I believe Your
promises and I ask that You would hold my hand and remind
me that when You are near I can endure the things that are
troubling me. I confess that at certain points in my life, You
have seemed distant and I have felt alone. Through the Holy
Spirit, remind me of Your nearness and Your care, so that
in my moments of struggle and doubt, I can be comforted
by the knowledge of Your presence. Thank You for assuring
me that You can help me defeat fear and worry in my life.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
