DEVOTIONALS

WHAT IS THE MOST DEPENDABLE GUARANTEE YOU HAVE IN THIS LIFE?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the
Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
(1 John 5:13)

MEDITATION:
It can be difficult to find anything today that we can depend on.
We may buy things that have a guarantee, but that doesn’t mean
they won’t fail. However, when God’s Word tells us something,
we can depend on it as truth. God’s guarantee assures us that
nothing will break His Word to us.

In 1 John, we are reminded that we have a guarantee of eternal
life. Our responsibility is to believe in the name of the Son of
God. Believing does not stop with a head knowledge, but it goes
much further. It includes surrendering our life to Him and
allowing Him to orchestrate our lives.

When He calls on us for a specific task, we don’t debate it with
Him or make excuses, we just obediently do what He asks of us.
And when we do, we discover that He provides all we need so
that we can be successful. This creates a greater trust in Him
and develops a closer relationship with Him.

God never intended for us to be independent; He wants us to
depend on Him…daily. When the Israelites were wandering
in the desert, they depended on God daily to provide them
with manna. If He failed to provide, then they would have
starved to death.

Satan wants us to become independent because he knows
this will create a gap in our relationship with the Lord. If
we have a break in our fellowship with the Lord, then we
will be less apt to trust Him and His Word.

ACTION:
Paul knew something very important
– Christ loved him and gave Himself for Paul.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer
live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in
the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)

What about you? Can you say with confidence that Jesus
loves you and gave His life for you? Do you trust that
God’s Word is truth? Have you surrendered your life
to Him to the point that you are willing to do whatever
He wants you to do?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise
of eternal life to those who believe in Your Son.
Forgive me for not answering the call to serve
You and help me be a more effective listener to
Your call. Thank You, Jesus for loving me and
for giving Your life so that I could have eternal life!”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
