SCRIPTURE:
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously
to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
(James 1:5)
MEDITATION:
There are all kinds of institutions available
for anyone to increase their knowledge.
Knowledge is defined as:
facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience
or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.
People with knowledge usually command a certain amount of respect
and are often consulted regarding any number of topics.
But where does one go to attain wisdom?
Wisdom is defined as:
using good judgment, making sound decisions,
and applying knowledge and experiences to any situation.
Wisdom is often referred to as “common sense”.
Theoretically, it means a person has the ability
to make good decisions with or without a formal education.
Sometimes we tend to think a person is born with wisdom, but are they?
The scriptures tell us (Christians) to ask God for wisdom.
There are certain special privileges that only a true Christian can enjoy.
It begins with having a peace with God.
When we have a peace with God in our hearts,
we experience the joy of fellowshipping with the Lord.
This kind of peace
can have a beneficial effect on the body, soul, and of course, the mind.
Fellowshipping with the Lord can lead to
the development and preservation of physical and mental capacities.
Our peace with, and love for Christ
can open the door for Him to bless us with wisdom.
However, sometimes we are required to ask Him for wisdom.
The process of asking for wisdom is for our benefit.
If we feel we are deficient in wisdom, we have an opportunity to admit
that we are not independent, but in fact we are dependent on the Lord
for everything, including wisdom.
Admitting a dependence on anyone other than ourselves helps to prevent
arrogant pride and egotism from becoming a part of our lives.
It can also help to
escort any lingering egotism and arrogant pride out of our system.
ACTION:
Do you feel you have a wisdom deficiency?
If not, then complete a self-assessment
to determine if you are guilty of pride and self-sufficiency.
If you do feel deficient, first make sure you have surrendered
your life to the Lord, and then ask God to increase your wisdom.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, You provide me with so many blessings! Sometimes I
feel guilty asking You for anything else, but Your Word says that if I
lack wisdom, I should ask You and I can receive it. Father I am asking
You for wisdom and the ability to use it for glorifying Your Name. I pray
that You would open the doors of opportunity for me to use Your blessing
of wisdom for pointing others to You. If they are lost, I pray that I will
wisely lead them toward salvation; if they are Christians, I pray that I
will wisely share Your Word in a way that will bring them closer to You.
In whatever way You want me to use Your blessing of wisdom, I am ready!”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
