SCRIPTURE:
“Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.”
(Isaiah 65:17)
MEDITATION:
What kind of place is Heaven?
First, Heaven is home.
Home is a place where people feel relaxed and comfortable; they feel in
harmony with their surroundings because they are on familiar ground.
It’s a place where people look forward to
spending time in relaxing and enjoying.
After a busy day at work, many look forward to going home.
At the end of a vacation, most people can’t wait to return home.
It’s no wonder that the Bible tells us that Heaven is the home for the saved.
Second, Heaven is a not a temporary home, but a permanent one.
We have the promise of a home where Christ’s followers will remain forever.
Third, the Bible teaches that Heaven is a home
which is beautiful beyond every imagination.
Since God is the Author of beauty,
Heaven could not be anything else but beautiful.
Fourth, the Bible teaches that Heaven will be a home of happiness,
because there will be nothing there to make it sad.
God’s house will be a happy home because Jesus Christ will be there.
Not only will He be there, but He will be the center of Heaven.
All hearts will turn to Him and all eyes will look with love at the One
who died for them and made it possible for them to call Heaven their home.
ACTION:
Will you be able to call Heaven your home?
Do you look forward to traveling to your Heavenly home?
If not, what changes should you make in your life
to create happiness and excitement at the thought of ‘going home’ to Heaven.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise of a permanent Heavenly
home for those who believe in You and Your Son, Jesus Christ. When things
pile up; when disappointments come into my life; when sadness overwhelms
me; when stresses cause me to think I am trapped with no way out; whatever
distresses me in this life, remind me that I have a better home awaiting me.
Show me how I can not only prepare now for my future home, but also how
I can encourage others to make the right decision so they can join me in
Heaven. As I think of the promise of an eternal home with You, I rejoice!”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
