DEVOTIONALS

WHAT WOULD AN AUDIT OF YOUR LIFE REVEAL?

SCRIPTURE:
"All the days ordained for me
were written in Your book before one of them came to be."
(Psalm 139:16)

MEDITATION:
They say that smell is the sense most linked to memory.
Most all of us can relate to this comment.
We can catch a smell
and it reminds us of something we experienced in our past.
We might smell a food, a flower, something burning, a car, a tire,
or any other number of smells.

It might remind us of someone, a particular place, or an event in our life.
More than likely the same thing happens with a sound, a voice,
a song, an experience, or something else.
Sometimes we are reminded of a good experience,
but sometimes our memory is jostled to an unpleasant time.

In Psalm 139:16 we read the startling truth
that every moment of our lives has been recorded by a knowing God.
His eyes saw our unformed body, and in His Book all of our days were
recorded, including those which were purposed before they ever came about.

Do our memories belong to us alone, or are they so special to God
that He keeps track of each and every one?
God remembers everything about us
and how He has plans for each of us individually.
Look at how He spoke to Jeremiah:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set
you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Even when Jeremiah objected to God’s plans for him:
“Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
God reminded him that He had created Jeremiah for something specific
and He would help Jeremiah accomplish what he was assigned to do.
But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’
You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.

ACTION:
How does it make you feel
to know that God has always known you and always had a plan for you?
The question is, “Will you pursue His purpose for you,
or will you choose your own path for your time on earth?”

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, it is overwhelming to me when I think about how You
formed me to perform a specific purpose for You. It is difficult for me to
wrap my mind around the fact that You consider me valuable enough to
complete a task or You. Even though I may consider myself inadequate, I
know that You will not let me fail whenever I am actively pursuing what
You want me to do. Father, I ask You to give me the courage and
determination to fulfill Your purpose for me.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
