SCRIPTURE:
I will declare your name to my brothers;
in the congregation I will praise you.
(Psalm 22:22)
MEDITATION:
The Psalmist was so grateful for his relationship with God
that he could not contain himself.
He gratefully wanted others to know God as he knew God.
Are we any different?
Shouldn’t we want the same relationship with the Lord?
No other person could ever do for us what the Lord did!
We were destined for an eternity of agony
and separation from God and His Son.
But then Jesus went to the cross and made it possible for us
to go in a different direction, when our life on earth is finished.
He opened the door to a good road that leads to
an eternity with God and Himself, if we accept His invitation
and submit our lives to our Savior and Lord.
As believers, if we would just take a moment
and think about where we were headed, and contrast it with
where we are headed now, how could we contain our excitement?
We are all His missionaries with a task of taking the good news to others.
As His missionaries, we don’t have to preach, we just need to
lovingly share what He did on the cross for us and how it changed our lives.
We cross paths with a lot of folks and we should always be on the alert
for opportunities to tell them what the Lord has done for us.
There are people we know who have “not connected” with the Lord yet.
So, what should we do about them?
For starters, pray for them by name and ask the Lord to open doors
for us to freely talk to them about how our lives have been changed.
Their lives can be transformed by what we say to them.
When Jesus walked the earth, He
could only physically reach a small number of people.
But the world has exploded in population
and we belong to the sizeable army of missionaries who can reach many.
As we have received the mercy of God by the forgiveness of sin
and the promise of eternal life, we are instructed to show mercy!
In showing mercy we will not only receive mercy,
but we will find a stimulating happiness!
ACTION:
Want to add joy and excitement to your own life?
Then start doing what the Lord called all believers to do.
James stresses the importance of pointing others to Christ.
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth
and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever
turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death
and cover over a multitude of sins. (James 5:19-20)
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for showing me mercy and loving me enough
to send Your Son to be a living sacrifice for my sins, so I can spend
an eternity with You and Him. Fill me with an enthusiasm that overflows
and inspires me to look for opportunities to tell others what You have
done for me. Help me to be bold and not bashful about telling others how
You have changed my life. As I close my eyes in prayer, let me see the
faces of those who need to know You.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
