SCRIPTURE:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
(Psalm 27:1)
MEDITATION:
Today many people are living in the bondage of fear.
In a recent study a psychiatrist said
the greatest problem facing his patients was fear.
Fear of going insane, fear of committing suicide, fear of being alone,
fear of heart disease, fear of cancer, fear of disaster, or fear of death.
We are becoming a nation of fearful people.
Down through the centuries in times of trouble, temptation, trial, bereavement,
and crisis, God has brought courage to the hearts of those who love Him.
The Bible is full of assurances of God’s help and comfort
in every kind of trouble which might cause fears to arise in the human heart.
Today the Christian can go to the Scriptures and receive full assurance that
God is going to deliver the person who puts his trust and confidence in Him.
Christians can look toward the future with promise, hope, and joy,
and without fear, discouragement, or despondency.
One of the fears not mentioned is the fear of the dark.
What is the most refreshing relief for someone who is afraid of the dark?
It is light, isn’t it?
Light increases our faith and trust because it takes away the darkness.
The psalmist refers to the Lord as his light.
He probably couldn’t have used a better adjective for the Lord.
Not only is He the light, but He is also the salvation of the world.
Knowing that we have received His salvation is the cure for our fears.
ACTION:
Are you struggling with a myriad of fears in your own life?
If so, you are not going to overcome these fears in your own strength.
You need the light and salvation of the Lord to eliminate your fears.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the promises in Your Word of providing
courage to those who love You. You know the fears I am struggling with in
my own life. I pray that You would give me the assurance of Your light and
salvation in my life so the fears I have can be calmed and eliminated. Thank
You Jesus, for Your sacrifice that opened the door for me to receive Your
salvation.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
