SCRIPTURE:
We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.
(Psalm 33:20)
MEDITATION:
We live in a world with little or no patience.
We have been brainwashed into believing that immediacy breeds success.
However, the truth is, success stands a better chance
whenever we consider the various possibilities before making a choice.
Quick and accurate decisions can be good at times, but this penchant
for being quick and decisive can also have negative effects.
If quick decisions are wrong due to the lack of well thought out processes,
then failure is imminent.
Even worse,
it creates a mindset that is unwilling to wait on the Lord’s timing.
This is in direct conflict with the scriptures
which encourage us to wait on the Lord.
Not just to wait on Him, but to wait for Him with hope.
What kind of hope?
The scriptures tell us that our hope is that He will help us and protect us.
This ‘hope’ is translated as ‘faith’.
In other words we wait on the Lord
because we have faith that He supplies all of our needs.
Why would we have this kind of faith in the Lord?
We have faith because we know Him and have a close relationship with Him.
We also have faith
because we can recall how He has helped us and protected us in the past.
He may have protected us from harm, or from engaging in activities
that are harmful to us spiritually, and possibly physically as well.
He also teaches us patience so that we can squelch our anxieties
as we wait for Him to do things on His timetable and not ours.
He helps us to wait for His help!
God created man distinctively different from the other animals.
He breathed into us the breath of life and we became living souls.
He equipped us with intelligence, conscience and a will.
He made us like Himself
and gave us the opportunity to become a friend of His.
At the resurrection,
we will be able to trade our mortal bodies for immortality.
When we think about the joys of His return, we still have to wait on Him.
It is always worth the wait, when it is the Lord we are waiting on.
ACTION:
How good are you about waiting?
Do you have adequate patience to wait on the Lord?
How much trust and faith do you have that He will supply all your needs?
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your assurance that whenever I wait
on You, I will receive Your amazing blessings. Forgive me for being
impatient and trying to resolve issues in my own strength. I have seen
too many others create problems for themselves due to a lack of patience
and an inadequate relationship with You. Strengthen my faith so that it is
easy for me to wait for You and Your timing. Thank You for all the
blessings You have already given me.”

I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
