SCRIPTURE:
Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for
the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
(Jude 1:21)
MEDITATION:
Some Christians wonder what they should be doing until Jesus Christ returns.
The Bible has an answer for that!
Christians should keep themselves in God’s love.
How do we “keep ourselves in His love”?
We do the things that He loves to see
and we express love to others as He would.
This means we should be obedient to His commands…all of them.
His commands are not a smorgasbord
where we choose which ones we want to obey.
If we want to stay in His love, then we obey all of His commands,
including those that take us out of our comfort zone.
The Bible is a revelation of the fact that God is love.
Many people misunderstand the attribute of God’s nature, which is love.
“God is love” does not mean that “everything” is sweet, beautiful, and happy,
and that God’s love could not possibly allow punishment for sin.
However, He can bring beauty and sweetness into everything.
Even God’s discipline is an action of love for those who belong to Him.
When someone preaches about justice, it is justice tempered with love.
When someone preaches about righteousness,
it is righteousness founded on love.
When someone preaches about atonement, it is atonement planned by love,
provided by love, given by love, finished by love,
and necessitated because of love.
When someone preaches about the resurrection of Christ,
they are preaching the miracle of love.
When someone preaches about the return of Christ,
they are preaching about the fulfillment of love.
ACTION:
No matter what sin you have committed, or how terrible, dirty,
or shameful it may be, God loves you – never forget that!
The love of God is immeasurable, unmistakable, and unending!
When He disciplines you, it is an expression of His love.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I may not fully understand Your love, but I know You love
me in spite of my failures. I express my heartfelt gratitude to You, Father, for
Your forgiveness and love. I want to stay in Your love by obeying Your
commands to the best of my ability. Help me in my efforts to please You and
teach me how to show Your type of love toward others.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
