DEVOTIONALS

ALL PEOPLE REPORT TO THE AUTHORITY OVER ALL AUTHORITIES ON EARTH

SCRIPTURE:
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus
had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some
doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven
and on earth has been given to me.
(Matthew 28:16-18)

MEDITATION:
Have you ever had doubts about Jesus?
If you have, it is nothing to be ashamed of;
even some of those closest to Him had doubts.
Jesus was aware of their concerns
and knew what to say to allay those doubts.

He didn’t tell them to believe He was who He said He was.
Instead, He told them about His authority.
All of us have to answer to someone authority.
Even CEOs of a company have to answer to the board of directors.
Owners of companies answer to their customers, or go out of business.
The president ultimately answers to the voters.

Poet and singer Bob Dylan wrote a song called, “Gotta Serve Somebody”.
One of the lines in his song speaks volumes.
It says, “It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you're gonna have to serve somebody.”
Not only are we “gonna serve somebody”,
but we also are “gonna respect and obey somebody’s authority”.

Everyone is subject to some kind of authority.
There is one chain of command and the ultimate authority at the top is God.
Jesus Christ was under the authority of His Father in Heaven,
and as a result, He lived for one thing - to fulfill the Will of the Father.
Jesus had so much respect for the authority of the Father
that He chose to yield to Him completely.

Think about this: from the first breath Jesus took when He left Heaven
to walk the earth in human form, His mission was to do everything
the Father wanted Him to do, including going to the cross to suffer a
brutal death as part of the Father’s plan for the salvation of all mankind.

ACTION:
What is the authority in your life?
Is it your selfishness? Your lust? Your greed? Anything else?
Have you turned it all over to God and said,
“Lord, You are going to be my authority"?
Who are you “gonna serve”?
Will it be the devil or the Lord?
You have to serve one, but but it can't be both.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, remind me that You are the highest authority, and as a
result, I ultimately report to You. Help me to take my focus off any other
authorities and place my life under Your authority. Show me how to prove
I have yielded to Your authority by the way I live my life and the things I
do to serve You. Give me Your grace and strength to yield everything to You.”

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
