ARE YOU BECOMING WEARY IN YOUR SEARCH FOR PEACE AND HAPPINESS?

SCRIPTURE:
“I spread out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land.” 
(Psalm 143:6)

MEDITATION:
There are many in this world who are struggling with the problem of emptiness.
So many people today are bored, lonely and searching for something.
You can hear it in their conversations; you can see it in their faces.
It is sad to see others consumed with so much distress.

There was a girl who came home from college and told her wealthy dad,
“Father, I want something, but I don’t know what it is.”
That describes the dilemma of so many people today.
Many are searching for something 
to solve the deepest problems in their lives, but have not found it.

Consequently, we see many trying different things (some that are destructive)
in their efforts to find something.
The Psalmist David said he had found it.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” (Psalm 23:1)

The apostle Paul expressed that he had found it too.
I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me.
Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not 
saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever 
the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to
have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every 
situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:10-13)

David and Paul have shown us that we don’t have to give up on life.
We don’t have to throw up our hands and cry, “It’s no use!”. 
Like Paul and David, we can have God’s peace, God’s joy, 
God’s happiness, and God’s security. 
And when we do, we can discover the most thrilling life in the world.

ACTION:
Is your life feeling empty?
Are you searching for something to fill the void in your life?
Perhaps you have tried alcohol, drugs, or relationships.
Maybe you are one who believes 
that the “right person” will cure all the ills in your life.
Before you continue your futile search, 
turn to the One who can quench the thirst and the longing of your soul.

Don’t be one who tries everything and finally gives up and “tries” Jesus.
Instead, turn to Jesus first and watch what happens.
God’s Word doesn’t lie; if you believe in God, then believe His Word.
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, 
and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33)

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, You know the struggles I have in my life. You also 
know my weariness from looking for solutions in the wrong places. Help 
me show my belief in Your Word by actively seeking Your kingdom and Your 
righteousness first. Give be the patience to wait on Your timetable and 
to thank You in advance for how You will quench the thirst and longing 
of my soul.”
