WHO’S WILL IS WINNING THE BATTLE FOR CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE?

SCRIPTURE:
“For I have come down from heaven,
not to do My own will but the will of Him who sent Me”
(John 6:38).

MEDITATION:
Whenever a person is enamored with someone,
they can develop a desire to be just like them.
They want to mimic their habits, their character traits,
their goals, their attitudes, etc.
In order to do that, they need to get to know them better by observing them
and understanding the reasons they do what they do.
Understanding their rationale for what they do can be difficult to determine,
especially if they have a hidden agenda,
or concealed purposes that are not easily seen.

The good news for those who choose to follow the Lord is,
there is no hidden agenda.
The scriptures clearly explain His purpose
for coming from heaven to walk among men in human form.
He had one purpose, which was to do what God the Father wanted Him to do.
That meant He would need to set aside His own will
and allow His Father’s will to rule in His life.

There are four steps involved in transforming us into a new person.
We must first realize that we are not our own and that we have been bought
and paid for with a price that we could not pay.
With that in mind, we should yield our lives to our Lord and Savior.

The only rights and privileges that we have are those in Him,
which give us access to an abundant life.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

Our first stage in the transformation and growth process is to
come to the realization that we are not to do our own will, but God’s will.
As a matter of fact,
our will must decrease so His will and plans will increase.
We should seek Him and His kingdom first,
and then everything else will be added.

“I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the
Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner”
(John 5:19).
The second step in the transformation process
requires us to be in a relationship with our Lord.
When we do, we not only know what He is doing and where He is heading,
but we also know that what we do is based on His direction for our lives
and what He has called us to do.
This is the phase
where we begin to hear His voice and move in harmony with Him.

“I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me
is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him”
(John 8:26).
The third step in the transformation process is where we
become a vessel of honor that takes the true Word of God to the world.
We readily share the Good News
with those who are hurting and who need to hear it.
In John 8:26, we see Jesus being a witness to the world
as He proclaimed the Father as the one true God.

“I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies,
it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain” (John 12:24).
The fourth step in the transformation process is
when we are willing to allow everything about us to die off,
so that everything about Him can be perfected in us.

The scriptures have much to say
about the war between the fleshly man and the spiritual man.
Even though we accept Christ as our Savior, the battle rages on.
The only way to conquer the flesh, is to reach a place in our life
where we are willing to succumb to God’s Will over our own will.

ACTION:
Have you completed the transformation process
or are you still keeping a tight grip on your own will?

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I unconditionally give my life to You to be used according
to Your Will. I only have one desire and that is for You to accomplish Your
Will in me. Lord, I ask You to mold me according to Your Will. Break me
in the areas that need to be broken and remold me as the potter molds a new
vessel. I truly want Your perfected Will in my life and nothing else. I
realize this process is not an easy one for me as I am going through the
breaking process. Thank You for considering me worthy to be broken. Develop
in me a willingness to be broken so I can be perfected for the cause of
Christ. My desire is for others to know the life-changing power and the
blessings of being a child of the King.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
