DEVOTIONALS

IF YOU WERE OFFERED A REMEDY FOR A SERIOUS CONDITION, WOULD YOU TAKE IT?

SCRIPTURE:
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death.  The
prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord
says:  Put your house in order, because you are going to die;
you will not recover.”
(2 Kings 20:1)

MEDITATION:
There is question each person should consider,
“Does God condemn man, or does man condemn himself?”

In love and mercy, God offers men and women a way to escape condemnation,
a way of salvation, and a hope and anticipation of better things.
Man in his blindness, stupidity, stubbornness, egotism, and love of sinful
pleasure, refuses God’s simple method of escaping the terrible fate of
eternal banishment.
As a result of this refusal, man condemns himself.

Suppose you were sick and went to a doctor who gave you a prescription.
But after thinking it over,
you decided to ignore his advice, and refuse the medicine.
A few days later your condition was much worse
and you returned to the doctor.
Could you blame the doctor for your worsened condition?
Could you hold him responsible for failing to give you a remedy?
He gave you the prescription, he prescribed the remedy, but you refused it!

It is the same kind of analogy with God.
God prescribes the remedy for the ills of the human race.
That remedy is personal faith in, and commitment to, Jesus Christ.
His remedy is to be “born again” (born into God's family).

If we deliberately refuse it, then we must suffer the consequences,
and we cannot blame God.
Is it God’s fault that we refuse the remedy?
Of course not; God is full of mercy and grace.

He wants what is best for every individual
but He will not force us to accept His remedy.
It is our choice,
and we can blame nobody but ourselves for making the wrong choice.

ACTION:
Many want to say that God is a myth – He is not!
Many want to say the Bible is fiction – it is not!
Many want to say that heaven doesn’t exist – it does!
Many want to say that hell doesn’t exist – it does!
Many want to say that a loving God would not condemn anyone – He doesn’t!
No, we condemn ourselves by refusing His offer to avoid eternal suffering.

Would you rather live a life believing in a loving God
and find out at death that He doesn’t exist?
Or, would you rather live a life as if God doesn’t exist
and find out at death that He does?
If you don’t accept His offer and He does exist,
you will have the greatest regret you could ever imagine.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, I believe in You and Your Son, Jesus. I believe that Jesus
died on the cross as an appeasement for my sins. I believe the Bible is true and
it is Your Word. Father, I want to accept Your offer to escape condemnation,
to surrender my life to Your Will, to develop a close relationship with You,
to allow the Holy Spirit to become my guide in all that I do, to enjoy Your
blessings, and to look forward to spending an eternity in Your presence.
Forgive me for living only for my own sinful, selfish pleasures with no
concern for others and no thoughts of Your existence, Your commands, and
Your offer of salvation. Help me to have concerns for others in the same way
You have concerns for me and my eternal destiny. Teach me to pray for those
who do not know You.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
