SCRIPTURE:
“Come to Christ, who is the living Foundation of Rock upon
which God builds; though men have spurned him, he is very
precious to God who has chosen him above all others.”
(1 Peter 2:4)
MEDITATION:
Have you ever been in a group setting where everyone was participating
in the comradery, but there was one who just didn’t seem to “fit in”?
Did you ever take the time to get to know that individual?
Some who seem to be loners, are just looking for a friend.
You can discover that they have a lot of value when you befriend them.
As God’s children, we should reach out to those that everyone else ignores.
It is an opportunity for us to show the values Christ expects of His followers.
There were a lot of people who rejected Christ,
but look at how much value He brought into the world.
He was the ‘foundation’ upon which God builds.
God created the world, so what else is left to build?
God built a road to salvation for everyone,
and He included Christ as part of His plan.
Even though He was God’s Son, and He was precious to God, He chose
Christ above everyone else to be the living sacrifice for our sins.
That makes Him precious to us as well.
No personality in history stands above Jesus Christ.
Agnostics and atheists have found fault with Christian ideas,
but they can never find fault with the Person of Jesus Christ.
They have found fault with Christians, but not with Christ.
Jesus of Nazareth transcends methods, ideas, and followers.
He stands at the turning point of time.
Men everywhere must bow to His superiority.
Since Christianity is Christ, those who wish to be a Christian
must accept and follow Him as a Person.
He and He alone is able to meet every need of the human race.
ACTION:
If you profess to be a Christian,
have you accepted your responsibility to follow Christ?
Following Him means that you need to become more like Christ.
It includes learning about His characteristics and habits,
and mimicking them in your own life.
If Christ is precious to you, no one has to tell you what He expects of you.
You will naturally strive to be more like the One you are following.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, words could never adequately express my thankfulness
for the road to salvation You have created. I cannot wrap my mind around
how Your plan included the sacrifice of Your precious Son. Thank You,
Jesus, for willingly going to the cross for me and everyone else. Help me
to be a true follower of You and not just give ‘lip service’ to my commitment
and faith. Teach me to reach out and encourage those who are spurned by
others. Only You, Lord Jesus, meet all the needs in the hearts of men. You
have met me in all the loneliest and all the happiest moments of my life.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
