SCRIPTURE:
“Ah, Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by
Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You.”
(Jeremiah 32:17)
MEDITATION:
Are you guilty of deciding that you will handle the “little things” on your own?
Why would you do that?
Maybe you thought it would be better if you didn’t “bother” God
with the “little stuff” so He could focus on “bigger things”.
Or maybe you thought you would “help Him out” so He could
concentrate on piercing the hearts of the lost so they could be saved.
Isn’t it ludicrous to think God’s needs our help or management?
Since God created the universe and all that’s in it, He doesn’t need our help.
However, He does want us to serve Him in whatever capacity He has chosen.
The first words of Jeremiah’s prayer acknowledged the power of God.
In fact, his entire prayer was about the majestic power of God
(Jeremiah 32:17-25).
The first part of God’s response to Jeremiah was,
“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind.
Is anything too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27)
You might be thinking, “Really? Is nothing too difficult for God?”
What about a natural disaster, cancer, or the loss of a job?
Does this include divorce, a wayward child, or a corrupt government?
Trouble, crisis, and difficulties often arise when we least expect them.
If we aren’t grounded firmly in the Truth of God’s Word,
these waves of turmoil will crash down, drowning us in its wake.
Just as God spoke through Jeremiah to the Israelites,
He uses these same verses to speak to us.
When we find ourselves in deep water, we have to maintain a faith that God
will send us a life-line through Scripture, prayer, a support group, friends,
family, or any other venue of His choosing.
The Lord provides encouragement when there seems to be none available.
His power is not limited by anything or anyone.
We must hold fast to this truth:
“God’s power is infinite and nothing’s too hard for Him”.
ACTION:
Have you struggled with problems because you failed to call on God?
Why would you ignore the highest level of problem solving?
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, forgive me for having an inadequate faith in You
and Your power. Forgive me if I have decided to only bring ‘big things’
to You and tried to handle the ‘smaller things’ myself. Like Jeremiah, I
realize that nothing is too difficult for You. From this day forward, help
me to bring any problem to You, no matter how small. Convict me that
I am guilty of trying to be independent when I try to handle things on my
own, and to be aware that You want my exclusive dependence on You as my
Heavenly Father. I thank You that no matter what heartache or excruciating
pain I have, You can handle it for me, if I lay them at Your feet. Thank
You for always being there for me.”
About Don Woodruff
Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
