DEVOTIONALS

WHEN PROBLEMS COME, WHERE DO YOU GO FOR HELP?

SCRIPTURE:
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go,
and I will bring you back to this land.  I will not leave you
until I have done what I have promised you.”
(Genesis 28:15)

MEDITATION:
Everything can be going just fine for us
when suddenly we are blindsided by something unexpected.
If it was something we knew was coming, then perhaps we
could prepare mentally and emotionally for it,
but when it blows in suddenly, we can be overwhelmed and struggle to cope.

It can be difficult
to organize our thoughts enough to consider what we need to do or think.
When our reactions are chaotic,
it can create additional anxieties and panic in our lives.

Have you ever thought to yourself,
“If only I had a reliable and trusted friend to help me through this problem.”?
If you are a believer, then you do have that friend you need.

When we look at the promises God made in Genesis 28,
we might say, “Yeah, but life was different back then”.
During those days, God spoke to people through prophets,
through dreams and sometimes audibly through angels or Himself.
But we have to remember that God’s promises are for all people.

Sure, things were different 'back then',
but look at the words of comfort from Jesus in the first part of John 14.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told
you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that
you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am
going.” (John 14:1-4).

When Thomas indicated he was confused about what he heard,
Jesus answered his question with words that pointed toward eternity.
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going,
so how can we know the way?” (John 14:5)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me”. (John 14:6)

Then He said something to reassure Thomas and the others.
“If you really know me, you will know my Father as well.
From now on, you do know him and have seen him”. (John 14:7)

Philip’s response shows his confidence in what God’s presence meant for them.
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
(John 14:8)

ACTION:
If you are a believer, never get the idea that the Lord has deserted you.
You can always call on Him in your time of need.
If you are not a believer, you can call on Him to save you,
and you can start building a close relationship with Him.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promises. Knowing that You
are with me at all times gives me the comfort I need for coping with
the problems and disappointments of life. Thank You for the
reassurance of Your presence.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
