HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
SCRIPTURE:
From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(Psalms 61:2)
MEDITATION:
When you are discouraged, who do you seek for encouragement?
When you are depressed, who do you seek to lift your spirit?
When you are in trouble, who do you seek for help?
When you have a decision to make, who do you seek for advice?
The psalmist sought the Lord in all his circumstances.
When he says “my heart grows faint” we know that he was distressed.
He may have been discouraged or depressed but at any rate, he needed help.
He calls out from the “ends of the earth”,
so regardless of where he was, he called out to the Lord.
It is one thing to call out to Him,
but another thing altogether to call out with expectations.
The psalmist had the kind of relationship with the Lord
that he called on Him knowing that He would hear him and respond.
When he says “the rock that is higher than I”
he is admitting that he needs divine help that only the Lord can provide.
How comforting it must have been for him
to know that the Lord was with him and would fulfill his needs.
When we observe the valley the psalmist was in, we need to realize
when we become a Christian, it doesn’t mean we will live on a perpetual ‘high’.
Not only the psalmist,
but David and the apostle Paul also experienced valleys in their lives.
However, they all knew that in the midst of their circumstances,
God’s grace, peace, mercy and joy were available.
ACTION:
Whenever you are faced with difficult circumstances, call out to the Lord.
Take your concerns to the rock that is higher than you.
Don’t get the idea that you are not going to disturb God
with your concerns, so that he can meet the needs of other people.
That is an arrogant, self-sufficient attitude.
God wants our dependence, not our independence.
Tears will come, pressures will be felt, and temptations will overwhelm,
but you have His power to assist you with whatever comes your way.
Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for being there to handle the things that are
too big for me. Thank You for the scriptures that tell me how You were
there for others and assure me that You will be there for me as well. Help
me to develop the kind of relationship that the psalmist had with You.
Teach me to call out to You in all my adverse circumstances. Create in me
a grateful heart so that I will call out to You often when things are going
great. Remind me that when things are good, it means I am enjoying Your
blessings.”

I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
