DEVOTIONALS

WHY ARE YOU HERE, AND WHERE ARE YOU GOING?

SCRIPTURE:
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
(Ephesians 2:10)

MEDITATION:
Are you going through life with a kind of dryness of enjoyment?
In other words, life is just a routine or rut with little pleasure or excitement?
It is almost like you are qualified for a particular job,
but you are much more qualified for a different job.
You are going through the motions of doing your job,
but your skills are better qualified for doing something different.

Many can fall into this type of lifestyle because they have
failed to understand why they were created by the God of the universe.
The scriptures tells us that God has a purpose for each person
before they are even born.
He has charted a path for each of us to follow – a road map
for enjoying life and fellowshipping with Him.
The path He has chosen for each person is good.
It is good for them, it is good for those around them,
and it is good for our relationship with the Lord.

Since He has created us for a purpose, logic would tell us that He has also
provided the skills (gifts and talents) that we need to fulfill our purpose.
However, some are following the worldly path with ‘unqualified’ skills.
As a result, they can be restless, unhappy, unmotivated
and even wonder why they were created.
The skills they have been given are collecting dust
and wasting away, because they are on the wrong path.
They have ignored their God-given purpose and chosen to ‘chart their own path’.

The scriptures tell us that happiness is found through obedience to the Lord.
Obedience includes going in the direction He has chosen for us,
and using what He has given us to do ‘good works’.
As an example of the contrast between God’s path and the worldly path,
the world tells us to “get all you can”, but God tells us to “give”.

ACTION:
Are you following God’s path specifically designed for you?
Are you using everything He given specifically to you?
Are you doing ‘good works’?
Are you selfish and/or stubborn and decided that “you” know
what you should be doing, instead of following God’s path for you?
Do you frequently find yourself in isolation from others?

If you are following His path and doing ‘good works
then life will have meaning and can be an enjoyable and exciting journey.
If you are not, then be prepared to experience a much less enjoyable life filled
with frustration, disappointment, restlessness, and an anxieties that you should
make significant changes in your ‘life path’.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for preparing a path for me before I was
created. Thank You for considering me important enough to assume
the responsibilities You designed especially for me. Thank You for
providing me with everything I need to follow Your path successfully.
Forgive me for allowing the attractions and influence of the world to
put me on a different path which causes me to miss out on Your blessings
for me. Help me to understand the changes I need to make in order to move
from a worldly path, to the righteous path You have designed for me to
follow, in order to do good works. Show me how to measure the path I am
on by the impact it has on me, and others. Lord, I need Your guidance to
make changes and start enjoying Your blessings.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
