DEVOTIONALS

IS YOUR LIFE OUT OF FOCUS? IS YOUR PEACE AND JOY ELUDING YOU?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
For here we do not have an enduring city,
but we are looking for the city that is to come.
(Hebrews 13:14)

MEDITATION:
Who can say that the world we live in is perfect? It can be very
discouraging when we focus on the troubles of our world. Therein
lies a part of the problem – our attention is ‘out of focus’. When we
are a child of the King, we need to be looking past this world and
focusing on the fantastic world awaiting us.

One of the basic desires of every person is to live on and on.
Self-preservation is one of the laws of nature. People may get
tired of aches and pains and the onset of old age, but they
seldom grow tired of life itself.

The good news is, God has made arrangements to satisfy our
yearning to live forever, and our desire to be free from pain,
sickness and trouble.
We are little creatures with huge yearnings;
    we are finite beings with infinite desires;
we deserve nothing but demand everything.

When we were born with such huge cravings, God knew that
He would provide the One who would be available to completely
satisfy our desires. God made our human heart so big that only
He can fill it. He made us with desires that only He can fulfill.

He gave us Jesus Christ who is the only One who holds the keys
of death. In His death and resurrection He took the sting out of
death. And now, God offers eternal life to every person who puts
his or her faith and trust in His Son Jesus Christ.

ACTION:
Are you going through life with a dismal outlook? Do you feel like
everything is pressing down on you and you have no voice? Have
you developed a short-sighted focus that extends no farther than
the world you are living in?

If you have, then you can only expect what this world has to offer.
Consequently, you are missing out on the joy of anticipating a
greater world; a world that should be the desire of every human
being; a world where we will sit at the table of our magnificent
Creator…and it all begins here, where we are.

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of a new world
that I can look forward to as my new home. It is hard for me
to fathom a world with no pain, sickness or trouble, but that
is what You have promised to all those who have surrendered
their lives to You, and trust You to fulfill Your promises. Lord,
help me to focus on what You have prepared for me so that I
can have a new outlook as I continue my life on earth. Thank
You for Jesus, who took the sting out of death. Show me what
I need to change in my own life so that I can find more joy, and
others will know that I am a child of Yours. Help be to be active
in encouraging others to look forward to a new home as well.
Jesus, I trust that when I come to the end of this earthly life,
You will be there to guide me to my heavenly home.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
