DEVOTIONALS

WHO CARES ABOUT ME AND MY PROBLEMS?

BIBLE PASSAGE:
“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food,
and the body more important than clothes?”
(Matthew 6:25)

MEDITATION:
How would you describe your life today…right now…this minute? Would you
say that you have it ‘all together’, or do you feel your life is in a confused or a
desperate state? Are the influences of your environment preventing you from
experiencing joy and peace? Do you feel the pressures of your job, or are you
having issues within your own family?

Are you happy with the way things are going, or would you like to have a complete
overhaul? Do you feel like you are on an island by yourself with sharks swimming
around and no one else understands? Do you feel misunderstood, alone, unloved,
and are having trouble even loving yourself? Are there sins in your life that seem
to have a continual grip on you?

The scriptures tell us that,
‘life is more important than food’.
What life is it talking about? More than likely, it is referring to a life of peace
and happiness. That is what we want for our children, isn’t it? Since we are
God’s children, then it stands to reason that He wants that for us. We want
our children to marry the right person and enjoy their spouse and family.
Wouldn’t it be understandable for God to want that for His children as well?

If we see our children in distress or unhappy, we have a desire to help them,
don’t we? We may not always know the right things to do or say, but we want
to try to help them get through the situations that are causing them problems.
God is just as interested in our lives as we are in our own children’s lives. He
assures us that He will provide for our needs (food and clothing), but He also
wants us to know that He is observing our lives, that He cares about us, and
will always understand what we are going through, even if no one else does.

Sometimes the best therapy for us is to share our problems with others.
However, there are times when we feel we can’t fully explain the intensity
of our issues, and we are not sure the other person understands, or genuinely
cares. Who could be better to share our problems with than God? No one.
However, many of us flounder around trying to resolve issues in our own
strength.

Why would we do that, when we know He is there and available as our friend
and caring Heavenly Father? We may have decided that we would be bothering
God with unimportant matters. Our thoughts may be,
“God, I know You’re busy so I’ve got this”
But when we have that kind of independent attitude,
we discover that Satan is right there with us saying,
“No you don’t, I’ve got this”

We may feel ashamed to go to God in prayer because of the sin in our
lives. That is a normal feeling, but if we don’t admit our sin to Him and
ask for His forgiveness, then we will continue allowing it to drag us down
in many ways, won’t we?

ACTION:
Remember when you were first saved? There was a feeling of complete
release of the things that had built up in you over the years, right? Other
concerns faded in the background as you felt the presence of the Lord.
Jesus was your primary focus, and you had a comfortable feeling that
no matter what happened around you, you had Him as your friend and
Savior.

In the blink of an eye, you had confidence that you could deal with the
pressures of life; you could handle it when you felt others were treating
you unfairly. What has happened to that feeling? Where did it go? God
is still in the same place because He is unchanging, so you must have
moved, right?

Rather than focusing on our issues, we need to redirect our attention
toward God. We need to rekindle the fires of the relationship we had
with God when we first gave our life to Him. Remember how much He
loves and cares for you. Reflect on how He has provided for your needs
over the years. Look around at the blessings He has given you.

Ask Him to help you relinquish control of your life to the Holy Spirit.
Don’t allow the pressures and disappointments of this life to destroy
your happiness. Realize that you are not going to always have all the
answers to everything, but He does.

Since relationships are built on communication, spend more time
communicating with the One you know who fully understands your
issues, knows what you are going through, wants what is best for
you, is aware of your sins (whether you confess them or not), and
loves you infinitely.

You are NOT alone, and remember,
“Isn’t LIFE more important than food?”

Pray,
“Heavenly Father, thank You for all Your blessings and
for watching over me. You have provided for my needs
and filtered my wants to provide only what is best for
me. Forgive me for attempting to resolve issues in my
life, in my own strength. Remind me of Your presence
and concern for me. Rekindle the relationship I felt
with You the moment when You blessed me with Your
gift of salvation. Help me to rearrange my priorities
so that being close to You, and pleasing You is most
important in my life. Father, You know me and You
have the answers to every issue in my life. Help me to
always call on You, rather than trying to resolve them
in my own strength. Remind me of how You gave me the
Holy Spirit when You saved me, so that I would have an
advocate to help me in my times of need. Thank You for
loving me as You do, and help me to remember, appreciate,
nourish, embellish, and increase my love for You. Thank You
for being my understanding and helpful Heavenly Father.”

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
