THE TREASURES OF WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE

“In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Colossians 2:3

Many years ago, the Spanish Armada was sailing off the coast of Florida.
A hurricane struck, and the ships laden with gold and silver ingots sunk to the bottom.
People knew the treasure had been lost
and believed one ship went down near Vero Beach in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Fishermen fished over that spot, sometimes probably hanging a hook on a lump of gold.
One day some explorers went diving, and there it was in the shallow water.
In fact the water was so shallow that any of us
could have swam to the bottom and brought up millions of dollars.
Simarlily, there are possibly many of us who
have not discovered the full treasure we have in Jesus Christ.

Wisdom and knowledge doesn’t equate to intelligence;
it means knowing God’s Will and having the self-discipline to obey Him;
it means knowing the characteristics of Jesus
and the desire to develop those same characteristics in your own life;
it means discovering the spiritual gifts God has given you, and the determination to use them in serving Him;
it means understanding and appreciating the mercy and grace of God
and being thankful for all the blessings He has given you;
it means knowing the value of exercising patience and loving others;
it means knowing how humility is much more valuable than arrogant pride
(according to His Word, God hates pride – whatever He hates should not be a part of our lives);
it means discovering the treasures He has for those who love Him;
it means an overall desire to know and fellowship with God.

Have made a conscious decision to “plug in” and find treasures of the Lord?
Or, are you living life in the shallow end,
wondering if His treasures will ever come to you?

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
