MOURNING OVER SIN

“Blessed are they that mourn:  for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4

We’ve done all that we can do to keep ourselves from feeling any pain.
We have psychologists who numb our neurosis,
counselors who absolve us of guilt,
doctors to sedate our pain,
insurance agents to take away our worries, and even at death,
we have the mortuary to try to beautify us.
But Jesus was a man of sorrows.
He saw the sin around Him, and it broke His heart.
In Matthew 23:34-39
we read how Jesus’ heart ached for Jerusalem
and the destruction sin had wrought in the hearts of men.

Do the things that break the heart of Jesus, break yours?
Do you mourn over sin, or are you a participantof it?
Are you living outside the will of God?
When we mourn over our own sin, we will be comforted.
Mourning means we are sorry for our sins
and we are asking forgiveness and repenting.
Repenting means we are turning our back on our sinful life.
When we turn our back, it means we have decided to follow Jesus.
When we have decided to follow Jesus, it means we give Him control.
Be honest with yourself, are you living in sin or following Jesus?

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
