DEVOTIONALS

BIBLICAL HOPE

“For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
my confidence since my youth.”
Psalm 71:5

What does the word “hope” mean in the Bible?
It doesn’t mean “maybe.”
We may use it that way in Modern English,
but that’s not what the word “hope” means in the Bible.
“Hope” means certainty, but not just any certainty.
It is assurance with anticipation based on the Word of God.
When I was kid, we would visit our relatives about two hours away.
Sometimes my sister and I would get into squabbles in the back seat.
If things got too heated, my dad would say,
“When we get home, I’m going to whip you two.”
With my dad, I knew this was certainty.
Our hope, however, is glad anticipation!

Share the hope of eternal life in Jesus Christ with someone.
Maybe there’s someone at the hospital who needs a word of hope.
Maybe it’s a member of your family!

About Don Woodruff

Retired from FedEx and dedicated to sharing God's Word with others. I send out devotionals weekly and have written two books: "The Crucifixion Catalyst / Unspoken Messages From God To Believers" (published and available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble **out of print**) and "I'm Saved Now What?" (unpublished). I am currently working on a third one that will be a Daily Devotional. The devotionals on my Blog have been viewed by people in all 50 states and over 80 foreign countries. I sincerely believe the Lord provides the content for the devotionals and in 2013 He “tasked” me with distributing them and storing them on my Blog. They are free and I will not solicit any donations. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to leave comments if one of them speaks to you personally, or if you have a suggestion.
